My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27
One day while listening to a John Maxwell teaching, I heard him say, “The greatest force to make change in the midst of crisis is uncertainty. Crisis creates uncertainty, but with uncertainty there is always opportunity. Every crisis has a problem. Going through the problems, you find hidden opportunities. What drives creativity is always believing there is resolution to any problem. A leader takes the reality of ‘what is’ and surrounds it with hope.”
It was around the same time; the Lord had begun speaking Elle Divine to me. Hearing this, it was as if a light bulb had turned on in my head. Here we were going through a worldwide crisis that was challenging health, economic status, race, among other social issues. I knew this crisis was my opportunity! I also knew, if there was ever a time to begin walking forward in resolution, it was at this moment that I believed God was placing in my heart. And so, it began.
I began to craft my message, with the hope to put forth the best through Elle Divine!
It was at this point my heart, mind, and spirit met as one with clarity. I understood the burning sensation in my heart. The Holy Spirit had ignited the motivation to begin creating Elle Divine. It was in my most uncertain and critical life circumstance that God made my next step clear… Begin a Blog! Begin a movement! Build a platform! Call it “Elle Divine”! The vision will be “Bringing Light to Darkness”. Well, the steps did not happen that simply, but that is the gist.
Mi Gente! Escúchame! That means “My People! Listen to me or Hear me!”, in Spanish. Let’s try that again!
Mi Gente! Escúchame! God can use anything and anyone to push you into whatever He has purposed for you. It can be at any time and however He sees fit. Are willing to listen and say, “Yes!”.
It is despite what you have done or gone through. In fact, it is despite what you are currently going through, that He wants to use you! I am living proof of that! It is through this lens we can walk into purpose.
Moses stuttered and was afraid of speaking, yet led a revival! Esther had to trust God in revealing her identity and challenging the law of the land, yet is known as a woman of great courage, obedience, and faith. Abraham had to leave everything behind and was even challenged to sacrifice his son, yet became the Father of all Nations. Saul before he became Paul was a murderer and on the wide spectrum of enemies Jesus had, Saul was number one; yet he wrote most of the New Testament and is known for walking wholeheartedly in the power of the Holy Spirit. And the list goes on and on.
You see, God’s perspective of the value you have and the authority you possess looks very different from this world’s view. Do not confuse the two. He is ready to use you, if you would just let Him. The great part is, He is gracious and moves in stages. Be reassured that there are steps to any craft. So, if it is anything like my journey, from conception to birth to growth to expansion will take time. Just start and He will do the rest!
Remember, it is His sheep who hears His voice and responds. What might He be saying to you? And how will you respond?
